107e White Bread Cake with Banana Filling (Nagasari Roti Tawar)


500 grams White bread cut in small pieces

750 ml Coconut cream

25 grams Sugar to taste

6 pcs Banana cut in half horizontally

1/2 tsp. Salt to taste

2 sheets Pandanus leaves, cut in 3 cm lengths

24 sheets Banana leaves 1 softened in boiling water, each 16 cm wide


Combine the coconut milk with sugar and salt in the sauce pot. Bring to a boil over medium heat and cooked, stirring. Add the white bread into the coconut mixture and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring, until the mixture thickens and turn into porridge. Set aside.

Peel the bananas and slice, cut in half horizontally .

Put the 2 sheet banana leaves cross on top of each other . Tuck a piece of pandanus leaf in the center and lay two tablespoon of the white bread mixture on top. Place one slice of banana and put another one tablespoons of white bread mixture onto the banana to enclose it. Seal the parcel with toothpick. Repeat the same way to make 12 parcel.

Put the parcels in a steamer and steam over boiling water for 20 - 25 minutes. Allow to cool, then serve.
